A Ghost of You

img of A Ghost of You

Ghosts don’t like to come out on nice days like this
With sunny rays like this
A burning blaze like this
They’d rather find a corner in a shed out back
Where it’s dead out back
So much dread out back
Then they wait for quiet just to follow you
Try to swallow you
Make a hollow you

You’re good at hiding all the pain you have
Endless rain you have
Relentless shame you have
Don’t you want to see your friends again
Not pretend again
Make amends again
It’s killed the things that mean the most to you
When it’s close to you
You’re a ghost of you

You should know we all have things to hide
Many masks to hide
A troubled past to hide
You should know your emotions aren’t all you are
In the dark you are
But still a spark you are
You should know this before you fade away
Fight the shade away
Don’t push aid away

Leave the shed door open wide
Let the sun inside
Watch your shadows hide
Then you’ll find yourself in a better place
Working every day
To chase the ghosts away
